A KITCHEN FOR CULINARY STARTUPS

We’ve had the privilege of hosting guest chefs/bartenders and a number of culinary events including degustations, workshops, and themed pop-ups.

The open kitchen gives an intimate experience and an opportunity for others to appreciate the culinary arts and the passion/work behind the scenes.

THE JOURNEY

The cafe first opened in August 2015 under the care and direction of Chef Aliesha McGilligan. She showed how food and real manākitanga was a critical part of the creative ecology that brought so many people together.

In 2018, chef Pedro stepped up to steward the kitchen and provided us with the best vegan baked goods and sweets. Pedro’s Cafe served our community until August 2021. He now chefs at the new plant-based hot-spot Bonobo Cafe, located in the beach-side suburb of Sumner.
