...but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
-Hemingway
Liam is a quiet presence in the corner of the Exchange that we call “the cave”. He spends most of his time painting and drinking coffee. He is ridiculously talented, watching his pictures come to life is mesmerizing. They never go through an ugly phase, it’s like the image appears fully formed on the board and then continues to grow until Liam decides it is enough.
Liam and the lovely Jo moved to Christchurch from the UK. Liam decided that he wanted to master oils and so he began to paint inspired by the post-earthquake Christchurch landscape and he has been painting pretty much ever since.
Recently he had his first exhibition at the Exchange and it was so exciting for all of us. Having watched the paintings grow every day, we all felt like part of the celebration really.
The thing about Liam is that he is inspiring us all with the journey he is on, as he works toward his goal. As well as that he always has a smile and a cheerful word, and always with time for a quick game of Foosball. He’s a great resident of the Exchange and we can’t wait to see what he does next. Either way, we will all be cheering him on from the sideline!
Liam's next Exhibition launches August 26th and we can't wait to see whats next!
