On Saturday, 20th of June we threw one crazy and creative party here at XCHC. The event, titled 'Vaccination Station', was our way of ushering out the lingering focus on COVID-19 in a fun, bold and artistic manner.
The evening was styled in a similar vein to a 'murder mystery'; but, after the efforts of our team, murder mystery evenings will soon come to be seen as styling themselves off us (well, maybe one day). There were a series of clues which led participants through a spider's web of a mystery, as they tried to find the cure to our fictionalised virus 'Covfefe-19' (no prizes for guessing where the name drew its influence).
Participants arrived in apocalypse, pandemic and 'twilight zone" themed costumes, and there were some seriously radical and impressive efforts on display. Sam Lewis (@sundaysam on Insta) won our best dressed prize as 'the Plague Doctor'. Congratulations Sam!
As the photographer for the evening, my aim was to capture a mix of sharp stills, along with longer exposures (no, my images are not 'blurry'...well, not accidentally anyway) in order to reflect the dynamic nature of the event, particularly as it progressed into the early hours of the morning. There was no shortage of material. Not only were the indelible costumes compositions in and of themselves, but the conviction of everyone to stay in character allowed for me to spin my lens in nearly any direction and find some kind of humorous or funky interaction.
Enjoy your look into the event, and thanks again for supporting us ~ Isaac
