Young Poets: Performance and Open Mic

Entry Details: Koha appreciated. Audience open to all ages. Performers welcome within the age groups specified.

Warm up for National Poetry Day at the Young Poets Performance and Open Mic. Proving that the future of poetry is in safe hands, current National Rising Voices Youth Poetry Slam champion, Sophie Rea, will mc two sessions of readings, performances and open mic as young poets, aged 8-25, share their words. 

Promising to be full of surprises, this event will feature young poets from The School for Young Writers and Faultline Poetry Collective, and is presented in association with WORD Christchurch. All young poets are welcome to take part in the open mic section for their age group and we’ll even provide experienced readers for those who feel the need. 

Date/Times:  Wednesday August 24th. 4.00 - 5.00 pm for poets aged 8-12 and 5.30 - 7.00 pm for poets aged 13-25.
